Widcombe C of E Junior School's Admissions Arrangements

    Introduction to School Admissions

Children applying to join the school at the beginning of Year 3

The majority of applications are made for children to join the school at the beginning of Year 3.

These applications are made through the parents’ home local authority. Parents are advised that they should read through the WJS School Admissions Arrangements for the relevant school year (see above).

To apply, parents need to contact B&NES local authority or, if living outside B&NES, their home authority directly. Applications must be made by January to join the school in the following September. (Please see relevant local authority for actual dates.)

Children applying to join the school other than at the beginning of year 3

There is a separate, ‘in-year’ application process for applications for places to join the school in years 4 to 6. This process also applies for applications to join the school in year 3 if the application is made outside of the main Year 3 application process.

Parents are advised that they should read through the WJS School Admissions Arrangements for the relevant school year (see below).

Parents should apply to the school directly, according to the procedure outlined in the Admissions Arrangements and using the Application form for In-year applications (see below). Applications can be made at any time in the year.

    Supplementary Information Form (SIF)

The supplementary information form is used by parents and other admissions applicants to explain particular circumstances related to a child, such as Pupil Premium eligibility, relevant to their application. This is described in the the Admissions Arrangements policy document for any given year.

    Appeals

The procedure for appealing any admissions decision is outlined in the School Admissions Arrangements for each relevant school year (see above).

Parents who wish to appeal a decision must read the relevant sections in the Admissions Arrangements and then complete an Appeal form
