We are very proud of the excellent provision that Widcombe CE VA Junior School is able to offer in Sports, Performing Arts and Extra-Curricular clubs. As set out in the Charter for Excellence, a real theme to our school is providing the opportunities for children to realise their many talents, skills and interests through an enriched curriculum.

We have recently re-validated our Gold Arts Mark award which recognises our enriched provision for Performing Arts. Over a third of our pupils take musical instrument lessons from the wide variety that we have to offer including brass, flute, drums,clarinet, guitar and double bass. Extra-curricular activities include Art clubs, Blues Band, Choir, Dance and Drama, and we have a well established reputation for quality participation in local events and festivals.

Widcombe CE VA Junior School is a member of a sports partnership with local schools ensuring that our sports provision is enriched by specialist coaching and skills development for all pupils. Our extra-curricular clubs are extensive including football, tag rugby, netball, tennis, multi-activity and cricket. We have taken part in many sporting tournaments and matches, made excellent use of the facilities and opportunitie s at Bath University and enjoyed strong links with Bath Rugby Club.

Further to this, we have been able to offer extra-curricular clubs run by volunteer staff and specialist visitors such as  Bookworms, Circus Skills, Lego Robotics and Public Speaking. Our Lego Robotics team have enjoyed huge success, winning through regional and national rounds of the First Lego League,to go on and represent the UK in the European Championship finals, twice in the last three years.

The school has also won the local Network Learning Public Speaking Competition for the past two years.
