Welcome to Widcombe CE VA Junior School.
We are a school which offers a real commitment to developing your child as an individual, and strive to create a climate where we can support, encourage, challenge and develop the full potential of all pupils in our school. We are proud of our many and varied strengths which include a strong Arts tradition, good standards of behaviour, a real enthusiasm for celebrating talents, skills and interests and a creative, engaging approach to our children’s learning.
We aim to ensure a positive and productive partnership which draws on the strengths of individuals and the community and works for the best interests of our children. We know that with a balance of commitment, hard work, good communication, careful planning and a sense of humour we will make Widcombe Junior School ‘an excellent school’. Throughout the prospectus we aim to give you a real, and practical, insight into the beliefs and values that are central to realising the vision as set out in our Charter for Excellence.
I am proud to present to you Widcombe CE VA Junior School. Please enjoy finding out more about us.

Headteacher
Welcome FROM THE CHAIR OF GOVERNORS
Widcombe Church of England (CE) Voluntary Aided (VA) Junior School is dedicated to giving children an excellent all round schooling. In addition to academic studies, we are delighted to offer a wide range of sports to complement our established strengths in music, drama and art. Residential camps continue to be valued features of the school as is French which is taught from Year 3.
We hope this prospectus will give you a flavour of the school and invite you to visit us on Open Day to see staff and children teaching and learning. Our Charter for Excellence, established in 2006, outlines how we work together with parents as a community for the benefit of the children.
Please contact our Headteacher, Mrs Kate Wilkins, at the school if you have any specific queries. Finally, as ever, we would like to thank the children, parents, staff and governors who have contributed words and pictures to this year’s prospectus.
With best wishes for the academic year 2007/8.
Yours sincerely,
Fran Bryden
Chair of Governors
